Marrickville Library Unveiled

5th September 2019

Designed by BVN, delivered by Mirvac and built by CD Construction, Council Mayor Darcy Byrne has now officially opened the Marrickville library.

Marrickville waited 30 years for a promised library and on Saturday Inner West Council Mayor Darcy Byrne declared Sydney’s best new library open with thousands of locals streaming through the doors and enjoying the incredible indoor and outdoor spaces.

Designed by BVN, delivered by Mirvac and built by CD Construction, it was an extremely proud moment to see the community embrace not only the library but also Marrick & Co, which marked its public unveiling with tours of display apartments and the rooftop garden.

The library was funded through an agreement with Mirvac and the Inner West Council resulting in a host of community benefits, including the library, Pavilion, community hub, children’s playground and public open space, and the creation of 225 new apartments and terrace homes, nine of which will be retained by council for key worker housing.

More than 6,000 people visited the library on Saturday and over 500 streamed through our sales office to book a tour, some driven by curiosity, others with serious plans to purchase having had a chance to see firsthand what NSW’s first One Planet Living community offers.

One local couple Pangy and Jim Demetriou, who accompanied their son to the sales launch in 2017 when he bought his first home, gave Marrick & Co and its integration with the library an enthusiastic nod of approval.

Pangy, who grew up in Marrickville, commented that, “it has really captured that feeling of community; it has been beautifully done”.

For many who visited, it was the first opportunity to experience at close quarters the Mirvac Difference – our absolute commitment to quality and care in every little detail, from liveable layouts to beautiful and durable materials and finishes.

Residents are now moving into Marrick & Co, the first One Planet Living community in NSW, where they’ll enjoy those incredible rooftop views and the magnificent library with its collection of more than 85,000 books, study spaces and meeting rooms available for hire.
